Last weekend we competed in the first of the 4 Olympic Trials races at Silver Star Mountain near Vernon, BC.  We spent the week before the race preparing on the trails in  the winter wonderland of Silver Star mountain resort.  It’s a beautiful place to visit in the winter.  The skiing is phenomenal and the snow is always plentiful.

For me, race #1 was a disappointment.  I would honestly say that the 10km skate race wasn’t where I was placing my greatest expectations, but that being said, I had really hoped/expected it would go better.  I finished 16th in the race, 6th Canadian.  Skating hasn’t always been my favorite technique, but I have pulled out great races from time to time, and thought it could have happened last weekend.   Now, with this first race in the past I am focusing on BIGGER and BETTER things for the next three races.   I’m certain that my fitness is there, as is the will to make it happen.  I will update again after the classic sprint races.
