 | I have been a horrible blog updater and I am sorry about that. Not qualifying for the Olympic team really turned out to be a deflating experience for me. I really lost motivation for training and was having a hard time feeling excited to race. It became pretty obvious to me that I was ready to move on and do some other things. The Olympic goal carried me a long way and kept me very focused, but when it was not possible to achieve it anymore, my mind-set really changed. more » | |

 | Bummer (Jan 1st, 2010)By: Shayla Swanson December has come and gone, and with it I have lost my chance at reaching my Olympic goal. The real bummer about it is that I skied well, just not well enough to make the team. more » | |

 | 1 of 4 (Dec 14th, 2009)By: Shayla Swanson Last weekend we competed in the first of the 4 Olympic Trials races at Silver Star Mountain near Vernon, BC. We spent the week before the race preparing on the trails in the winter wonderland of Silver Star mountain resort. It is a beautiful place to visit in the winter. The skiing is phenomenal and the snow is always plentiful. more » | |

 | Racing kicked off last weekend in West Yellowstone Montana during the annual Yellowstone ski festival. I love skiing in West Yellowstone. I love the trails, I love seeing my ski friends, and I love the feeling of anticipation that accompanies the first races of the season. While living in Bozeman, I have attended the festival 5 times and most often have been the lone Canadian skier in the races. This year was a different story. Quite a few Canadians came down to race in west, making it a true Nor-Am event. more » | |

 | The 09/10 ski season is just around the corner, and the goal of representing Canada at the Olympics could become a reality. A number of people have asked me how this whole Olympic qualification thing works. In all honesty it is not the easiest thing to figure out, but I will try my best to explain the criteria as I understand it. more » | |

 | Wow! The days are passing by so quickly that I am starting to have a hard time keeping up. I was reading an email this morning that mentioned how a meeting I had coming up in a couple of days would have to be delayed a week... until November! I had to re-read my email twice more » | |

 | The first week of our training camp in Mammoth has gone by so fast. The days were busy, filled with hard and/or long training sessions as well as lots of packing-up and moving. We spent a night in Mammoth (high elevation), and night in Big Pine (a town at low elevation), two nights in Mammoth, and then two nights in Big Pine. more » | |

 | I have returned home to Bozeman after spending most of August in the Southern Hemisphere only to find that summer is over. The leaves on the Sumac trees in the back yard have started to turn their stunning shade of fall red. It is always exciting to witness the change of seasons. Especially the change from summer to fall, which means winter is around the corner. Wait, I just get back from winter?? more » | |

 | Welcome to the first entry in our blog chronicling the day-to-day training and racing tales of Sauce founders Shayla and Rhonda. In our inaugural entry, I figure that it is important to give our readers a bit of background about not only who we are, but what we do and why we do it. Shayla and I are full time athletes in the sport of cross-country skiing more » | |
